About Us

Wendell and Trina live on a 211-acre farm in Salem, Indiana. Wendell has lived here, raising and managing many kinds of livestock and growing crops, for over 50 years. Wendell works full-time as an assistant editor for a database company in Louisville, and he is also an accountant and pilot. Before earning his degree in accounting and working in Louisville, he and his late father operated a Grade A dairy farm. Over the years he's raised chickens, hogs, and cattle, but hasn't enjoyed working with them nearly as much as he's enjoyed working with our alpacas.

We purchased our first alpacas in September 2000 and they arrived at our farm in May 2001. We love having them here. We can look out the window from the breakfast table and see them grazing. They are much sweeter and gentler than we had thought. Even vaccinating them is a breeze. Our first cria was born on the farm on July 13th, 2001. The little female was the cutest thing we had ever seen, and we've delighted in each cria's birth since then. See some adorable pictures of crias over the years in our Alpaca Cria Photo Album. Please also see the services we offer and our guiding principles.

We love caring for our alpacas and are looking forward to the day when we can stay home with them full time and immerse ourselves completely in the alpaca lifestyle. In the meantime, we content ourselves by sharing our love for alpacas with everyone who's interested. Please contact us now to schedule a visit to our farm. We'd love to have you!

Our farm is currently home to 13 alpacas, 5 dogs, some tropical fish, and some farm cats. Four of our dogs were rescue animals. Our beautiful Great Pyrenees named Sarah died of old age in August 2007, and we miss her terribly. We have a Border Collie mix named Luke, a Scottish Terrier named Kaylie, a Labrador Retriever/Chow mix named Bear, and a brother/sister team of two Australian Shepherd mixes, named Jack and Scout, who have moved from an alpaca farm in northern Indiana to make a home here. Please see our Farm Photo Album for additional pictures.
In 1998, Trina was living in Louisville, working full time as an assistant editor for the same database company, but in a different department, and working part-time as a massage therapist. Before meeting Wendell, Trina had never considered the idea of life on a farm. She'd always been a city dweller. When Wendell and Trina married in October 1999, Wendell had about 40 head of Angus beef cattle. Trina still works full-time in Louisville, now as a developmental editor for a company that produces online educational materials for colleges and universities. She offers massage therapy here on the farm, and has opened an alpaca store. We sell alpaca apparel and yarn. She's fallen victim to the spinning/weaving/knitting bug. She has learned to spin, has purchased a knitting machine, and is in the beginning stages of learning how to work with this fabulous fiber.
